Account Set up multi-factor authentication (since 2026)
What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
To reliably verify users' identities and prevent unauthorized use when accessing critical systems, our university has introduced multi-factor authentication, which uses a one-time password displayed on a smartphone in addition to your account password. This method achieves strong authentication by combining the user name and password that the user remembers with a one-time password that can only be generated on a device the user possesses, such as a smartphone.
This page explains how to configure multi-factor authentication on the authentication system that will enter operation in July 2026.
How to Register a One-Time Password App
A one-time password is a mechanism for verifying your identity more rigorously by performing an additional action in an authenticator app installed on a device such as your smartphone during user authentication. Following the setup guide below, please install a one-time password app on your device.
The registration guides are divided as follows according to the one-time password app you use and the setup method. Choose the one that matches your environment.
- Set up Microsoft Authenticator on a PC (recommended)
- Set up Microsoft Authenticator on a smartphone
- Set up another app (e.g., Google Authenticator) on a PC
- Set up another app (e.g., Google Authenticator) on a smartphone
Once you have finished setting up the app, access the registration verification website by following Section 3 of the guide, to confirm that registration was completed correctly.
Notes
- You can register only one one-time password app in each category: one for Microsoft Authenticator and one for another app.
