Changes in the provided anti-virus software

From April 2021, the anti-virus software provided by Information and Media Center will be changed.

All PCs that have Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) installed so far must uninstall SEP by the end of September 2021. Please check the contents of this announcement to the end as it is an important matter related to the license agreement.

Change

Provided anti-virus software will be changed as follows.

Until AY2020: Symantec Endpoint Protection（Broadcom）
From AY2021: F-Secure Computer Protection（F-Secure）

While SEP uses the same installer regardless of PC owners, F-Secure's antivirus software installers for Windows and macOS differ depending on PC owners. For example, you must use different installers between a university-owned PC that was purchased at university budget and a PC purchased by you for the BYOD policy. Please check the installation procedure on the website carefully and use the appropriate installer.

The same as before

There is no change in the types of PCs on which anti-virus software can be installed. It can be installed on all PCs that may connect to the Toyohashi University of Technology network. The owner of the PC (university or individual) does not matter. There is no limit on the number of units. There is no change in the available OS. We continue to distribute anti-virus software compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux as before．

What you must do

Please uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection that was obtained from Information and Media Center from your PC by the end of September 2021 and install the new anti-virus software.
